Legal Support Manager
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Paralegal Manager at our office in Richmond, VA. The Legal Support Manager oversees all aspects of legal support operations within the Litigation Department, ensuring attorneys are effectively staffed with skilled legal support professionals. This role manages the full employee lifecycle—from hiring and onboarding to supervision and performance management—while fostering a collaborative culture aligned with firm objectives. Acting as the primary point of contact for Legal Support Administration in the Richmond office, the manager partners closely with attorneys, practice management, and HR to optimize staffing, workflow, and employee engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage legal support staff, including hiring, training, supervision, and performance management.
- Collaborate with Legal Support Administration and HR on resource allocation, scheduling, compensation, and career development.
- Ensure staff have the skills and training to meet practice group needs.
- Analyze performance data to improve efficiency and service delivery.
- Build strong relationships with attorneys and staff to enhance morale, productivity, and retention.
- Drive workflow improvements across billing, intake, conflicts, and administrative processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive management experience in a law firm or professional services environment.
- Litigation practice knowledge preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and supervisory skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across locations in a fast-paced environment.
