The Legal Operations Analyst is part of the Truist Insurance Holdings (TIH) Legal & Regulatory Department and is responsible for legal technology and process initiatives. The Legal Operations Analyst uses substantial knowledge of legal and/or operational processes and project management skills to support new and existing legal systems and processes, including matter management, e-discovery, registered agent services and outside counsel billing. Performs assignments with autonomy discretion and good judgment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage legal projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to timeline, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Execute day-to-day operations and administration of core legal technology systems and processes involving matter and document management, e-discovery, registered agent services and e-billing.
  • Create and maintain user guides and/or training materials to lead onboarding, training and technical support to legal teammates on new technology tools and procedures.
  • Create metrics and trends on key data points aligned to legal department’s key objectives and strategic plan, as well as overall department effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with external vendors, including law firms, legal service providers, and technology vendors, to support the organization’s legal needs effectively.
  • Continuously assess and optimize legal processes and workflows to drive efficiency, mitigate risk, and improve overall performance.
  • Actively participate in the Legal Department strategic planning and strategic initiatives and create, edit, and manipulate reports to facilitate resource and expense management.
  • Support Legal Department in improving processes, knowledge management, information governance, records management, vendor management, and use of technology.
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion in drafting and negotiating appropriate contractual or other legal documents to ensure mitigation of financial and regulatory risk to the company.
  • Respond to legal inquires and interpret internal policies and procedures.
  • Develop strong relationships with internal and external project stakeholders, including other Legal Department Teammates, interested lines of business, and vendors.
  • Identify legal or business risks and escalate appropriately.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience (Preferred)

FUNCTIONAL SKILLS

  • Strong interpersonal and inter-team communication
  • Excellent research and writing
  • Strong organization and ability to prioritize work to hit timelines
  • Creative problem-solving

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with case management systems (e.g., LegalTracker, Passport, CounselLink or eCounsel)
  • Familiarity with legal document management systems (e.g., iManage, NetDocuments or M-Files)
  • Experience with e-discovery-related platforms or software (e.g., Microsoft 365, Relativity, Relativity One) for the collection, preservation, and organization of electronically stored information (ESI)
  • Paralegal Certificate
