Legal Assistant

POSITION: LEGAL ASSISTANT

Cascadia Cross-Border Law seeks a full-time Legal Assistant to support attorneys in the preparation of immigration -related petitions. Part-time may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

This person will work in direct support of 2-3 attorneys, assisting with a wide variety of legal and administrative tasks including the preparation of correspondence, drafting of documents and forms, and the assembly of immigration applications for filing with agencies such as USCIS, CBP, and the Department of State. Additional duties will include case management, client communication, record-keeping, and more. 

This is a full-time position in our Bellingham, WA office. Some remote work may be available on a case-by-case basis, although the position will primarily be in-person. 

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS  

Preferred: 

· Experience or interest in immigration law, including preparing petitions, forms, cover letters, support letters, and gathering and organization of supporting documents for employment-based immigration filings. 

· Understanding of legal requirements and supporting documentation for business immigration filings. 

· Proficiency with immigration case management systems (Clio, Docketwise, or similar) 

Must possess: 

· Bachelor’s degree

· Strong writing skills and attention to detail

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and Adobe

Requires a professional background check and satisfactory completion of skills assessment.

Hours: 8:30 am to 5 pm M-F

Salary: $20 - $23 per hour.

Benefits: Medical and dental after 60 days. Paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave after 90 days. 401(k) program including automatic contributions by employer after 1 year. 

Physical Demands: May require lifting file boxes weighing up to 35 lbs.
