Director of Regulatory Affairs
Job Description:
Our client is a manufacturer of flavors and ingredients for food and beverage manufacturers. We are looking to hire an accomplished and dedicated Director of Regulatory Affairs who will be responsible for strategic management of raw material safety, regulatory data, and overall director of the department. This position reports to the President.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the entire Regulatory function within the company. Position reports to the President.
- Manage 5 direct reports. (2 regulatory specialists, 2 documentation specialists, 1 Quality Assurance Manager)
- Help direct the company with regards to sustainability initiatives, follow trends in the industry, and perform risk assessments regarding new products being introduced.
- Collaborate with Procurement and R&D to ensure regulatory information and documentation is provided for successful commercialization of R&D trials
- Manage technical customer documentation requests for all departments
- Schedule and conduct regulatory audits including Kosher, Halal, EU, FDA, USDA, Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, customer-specific, and third party; perform follow up
- Develop and maintain regulatory policies
- Facilitate customer complaint resolution
- Perform formula review to ensure EU compliance; maintain EU certification; issue EU certificates to customers
- Maintain Halal certification; manage Halal applications
- Maintain Orthodox Union certification; manage applications
- Support QA with maintenance of Organic certifications; Support QA and QC as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Specific degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline is desired.
- 7+ years Regulatory experience in food manufacturing environment (or with an ingredient or flavor company)
- Prior management of 4 or more employees is required
- Excellent communication and organizational ability; Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of colleagues, managers, clients, customers, sales, and the general public
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Ability to troubleshoot
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
This is a full-time job with full benefits. This job is ON SITE in the Cedarburg Wisconsin area - Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5pm. Local candidates preferred.
