Director of Legal Operations
Job Description:
Major, Lindsey & Africa’s Interim Legal Talent group has an immediate need for a Director of Legal Operations.

Our client is looking for a stellar Director of Legal Operations.

Experience:
5+ years, senior executive in the legal operations function.
Location:
Hybrid, with Tuesday/Wednesday in Office.
The Director will report to the DGC and work closely with the managing lawyers and be an integral part of the Legal Department team.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Legal Department Budgeting, Monitoring Expenses and Reporting on Finances:
- Manage the Legal Department’s Technology Stack: Investigate/demo/procure/negotiate contracts for new software. With support from Company’s IT team, configure new software, migrations, features, upgrades, change orders/modifications, integrations (APIs), SSO, MFA, sFTP. Maintain the department’s SharePoint portal. Troubleshoot issues with software, work with IT support at Company and technology vendors.
- Current tech stack includes Microsoft Teams, Onit/BillingPoint, iManage, Visual Lease, Diligent Boards, Diligent Entities, Litera, Lexion, Prior RFP, SharePoint, and DISCO
- Help to Set/Track Annual Department Goals
- Project Management/Participation in Numerous Annual Projects: Participate on teams arranging Pro Bono events and clinics and the annual department offsite meeting. Conduct an annual department survey.
- Special and Recurring Projects: Currently include: monthly KPI reports, quarterly newsletter preparation, various inter-department time allocation projects, insurance policy renewals, and attorney registration verifications.
- Outside Counsel Billing Oversight: Supervise a billing coordinator who handles E-Billing invoice processing, vendor management and onboarding, rate schedules and increase requests; troubleshoot platform issues, support Matter Managers with matter creation and vendor assignments. Process invoices through AP for consultants, software, maintenance, subscriptions, vendors, charitable contributions, etc. not submitted to the E-Billing platform.
- Manage Department Subscriptions, Memberships and Maintenance: Negotiate with vendors, demo platforms, modify subscriptions, maintain rosters, review and pay invoices, frequent communication with vendors and continual search for new tools/platforms for use in the Legal Department.
Requirements:
- College degree or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years as the lead or a senior executive in a legal operations function.
- Experience working in a matrixed corporation, and/or for a corporation with a sophisticated legal function that handles M&A, litigation and operational work.
- Experience implementing artificial intelligence in a legal function.
- Candidate must possess:
- Excellent project management and time management skills
- Managerial expertise
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Expertise in MS Office, including Forms and Planner
- technical expertise, particularly in Onit, iManage, DISCO, SharePoint a plus
- Positive can-do attitude and collaborative approach
