What To Expect

Tesla is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Compliance Specialist to join our team. The responsibilities of the Compliance Specialist include enforcing state regulations, recommending improvements to our internal controls, and protecting company assets. In this role you will work cross-functionally with Sales & Delivery teams as well as Tesla Legal, Registration Operations, Accounts Receivable, and other teams that have a stake in Sales and Delivery Operations.

Ultimately, a top-notch Compliance Specialist should have an in-depth working knowledge of the operations and practices within our company and industry to evaluate risks and partner with business leaders to drive improvements.

What You'll Do

  • Schedule and conduct both in person and remote audits with local Tesla delivery locations throughout the US. Compile reports on the results and present relevant information to senior leadership
  • Develop state by state compliance audit plans based on thorough research of local motor vehicle dealer regulations
  • Review all relevant activities affected by business regulations, including paper records, electronic records, and privacy requirements
  • Recommend and implement training to address procedures and practices that are not compliant with local regulations
  • Collaborate cross functionally across departments to analyze potential risks within sales programs and practices to avoid possible compliance issues
  • Attend educational and professional development programs to improve your job knowledge and enhance our compliance program

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; 5 years audit experience in a highly regulated industry
  • An in-depth understanding of automotive industry laws and regulations preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical, and statistical skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite and familiarity with Tableau, JIRA and Confluence a plus
  • Strong communication, and interpersonal skills 
  • Extensive domestic business travel required (up to 50%)
  • Completion of industry-specific certification, such as a certified internal auditor a plus
