Chief Legal Officer – Utility-Scale Solar Developer (Remote)
A leading utility-scale solar developer is seeking a seasoned Chief Legal Officer (CLO) to lead all legal, regulatory, and compliance functions. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CLO will play a critical role in enabling strategic growth, overseeing project development legalities, managing risk, and guiding complex transactions, including M&A, project finance, and permitting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all legal aspects of project development, including land use, interconnection, permitting, and construction.
- Manage and negotiate project financings, joint ventures, and M&A activity.
- Oversee corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and contract management.
- Serve as a key member of the executive team, advising on risk and strategic direction.
- Manage and grow an internal legal team and oversee outside counsel.
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school; licensed to practice in the U.S.
- 12+ years of legal experience, including significant exposure to renewable energy or infrastructure.
- Proven track record in project finance, energy transactions, and corporate law.
- Strategic thinker with strong leadership and communication skills.
Compensation:
- Base salary: $400,000–$500,000, with additional performance-based incentives.
- Open to fully remote candidates within the U.S.
