Legal Director, Privacy
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Legal Director, Privacy to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to play a critical role in shaping our privacy program and ensuring compliance with global privacy regulations.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic legal guidance on global privacy compliance, including but not limited to GDPR, CCPA, and other emerging regulations
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive privacy program that aligns with our business objectives and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate privacy risks
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, including executive leadership, product, engineering, and other business units
- Stay up-to-date with evolving global privacy regulations and industry trends, and advise the organization accordingly
- Manage and provide guidance to junior attorneys and other team members
- Negotiate and draft privacy-related contracts and agreements
- Provide training and awareness on privacy-related topics to the organization
Requirements
- JD or equivalent law degree
- 8+ years of experience in privacy law, with a focus on global privacy regulations
- In-depth knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, and other global privacy regulations
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with data protection authorities and privacy regulatory bodies
- Certification in privacy, such as CIPP/E or CIPP/US
